ACU Student Library

With the introduction of a digital catalogue, online resources and classes via zoom, what do students need a library for?

ACU challenged BigCity Design to reinvent their tired library space and encourage students to gather, study, socialise and learn.

The design features bespoke reading tables, quiet group work booths, a working moot court, law library, collaborative green room and modular loungeroom for groups to socialise.

“BCD has consistently impressed us with their ability to interpret our needs, their creativity and the quality of their design. Most importantly BCD has an outstanding capacity to develop a design brief which reflects our functional needs, design influences and values of the University.

Their extensive knowledge of all aspects of design and project delivery is a rare asset that we value very highly.

BCD has successfully completed the redesign of our library space to accommodate increased student demand for flexible group and independent learning, with the addition of a Law collection and Moot court which doubles as a video conference facility.

The result is an outstanding success, delivered on time and below the budget”
